HOW TO PACK A SUITCASE Children pack only what they believe
they need, a list that remains pretty much the same no matter where they are going or what weather conditions may prevail. Generally, they will remember to include all their essential games, toys, Walkmans, and sports
equipment. They may also take along one or more favorite T-shirts, possibly some jeans, and maybe an extra pair of sneakers. But it is definitely up to mom to remember dress clothing, socks, underwear, pajamas,
medicine, toothbrush, and/or other toiletry items, including the dental retainer. The simplest way to make sure your child brings everything that is necessary is to provide a checklist. For a child who is too young
to read but eager to help (an attitude that should be encouraged), draw a simple picture of each item that should be packed. For a five-day trip, you might draw five sets of underwear and socks but only one pair of pajamas,
for example. If dressy clothes are not involved, it may be most efficient to pack an entire day's outfit in a large zipper-lock plastic bag. At the end of the day, everything goes back into the bag and from there directly
into the laundry. Of course, there is only one way to make absolutely sure children have everything they need with them and that is to have them stay home. Finally when in doubt, jam everything in the suitcase and close it
fast. |
