Maintenance > Disk Defrag
A disk defrag is a program designed to increase access speed (and sometimes increase the amount of usable space) by rearranging files stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations. You should run this about once a month as a recommendation but at least once every quarter will do.
It is strongly recommended that this program be run at the end of the day because no other programs should be running while it runs. Just start the program and let it run all night.
The process can take awhile, sometimes hours.
- To run the Disk Defragmenter. Open My Computer on the desktop.
- Right Click on C: drive and click on Properties

- Click on Tools Tab at the top

- Click on Defragment Now

- Click on Defragment

- When it is done it will ask if you want to view the log (there is no need to view the log). Just close the defrag.
You are now finished Defragging your hard drive. If you have any other hard drives on your system, just repeat the steps for that drive.
